Natural hair maintenance isn’t bad, but it is time-consuming.
I have been wearing my hair in locs for 3 years now. I decided to wear my hair this way because I wanted to try something different. In the past, I used to have braids so I knew what it felt like to have long hair. I also wanted to go to the barbershops less so locs worked for me.
Since wearing my hair in locs I haven’t faced any challenges. Most people welcome my look and I get a lot of compliments. When I was younger I didn’t see a lot of people wearing their hair natural or in locs. Through social media, television, and movies I believe it has become more acceptable and almost normal to see someone natural.
I usually get inspiration for styles from the person that does my hair. This twisted style is manageable for me and it makes it easy to wash my hair when I’m not getting it styled. Although I don’t like the process to retwist after washing, I like that I don’t have to do my hair every week anymore.
